FAQs

I stopped/delayed a program... but it's still running...

There are a few possibilities for this:

  1. It's a program (ex: instant messanger) and it re-adds itself when it runs
  2. It's a program that needs to run (and is loaded by another program)
  3. It's a virus/torjan/hyjacker, and well... it's what it does

If the first item applies... load the program, and tell it NOT to run at startup, but keep the entry in the delayed startup program.

For the second item, either delay/stop the program that could be calling it, or resume the running of the delayed/stop program.

For the last item, there's many programs listed that search for these type of programs.
Although you may (repeat: may) be able to stop the program again, and ALL OTHERS that you don't know what they are, (and have searched online to make sure they aren't bad programs).

General errors when doing delays or registry

Make sure you're logged in as an administrator... and try again. If the problem persists, E-Mail Support, Forums, Updates.

Where are current FAQs?

Company Site, find the program's link, and click it (since the direct page could change, it's not listed here)

Why don't shortcut keys exist to stop/delay/run/save/etc?

Since the changes are immediate, we don't want to risk you hitting the wrong key combination ("s, d, r, e, f" would be the english shortcuts if implemented) and potentially not realizing it - and messing up something because of it.

Why is english the only language listed?

Until we have an accurate (or accurate as far as we know) translation of items we won't officially release any other language packs. However, you are free to create them yourself (how?)

Version 1 was really small... why is this one so much larger?

Well... that tends to happen really. Actually, in version 2, the user interface is basically the same, yet all of the other code is different! Just so that people didn't have to relearn anything to use version 2, the user interface was kept.

The changes that were made was to accomodate user editable proggroup.c file (the file that contains all delayed items, stopped items, forbidden items, etc). Logging of a lot of information (as in what does & doesn't happen that's expected). Just adding stopped items doubled some areas of code. And the language files - the files that have all the text that's displayed in the user interface!.

Why isn't there detailed info on editing user editable files?

User editable files can change fairly frequently... while the help file will be updated, most times, whenever a change is made to the user files... they have help within the file telling you what to do. The information there is accurate as of the creation of the file (meaning that it's the most accurate).

I purchased the standard+ or pro edition... but there's a new release out...

Write us, or Visit our forums, or Company Site to see what the current procedures are for this... there is a period of time (varies) that major updates are free, and other times it's just discounted, while others it's just the normal price.

I can't select any "All User" Items... Custom program groups don't show up...

You have the standard version

The Standard+ allows you to see one custom program group

Only the PRO/ENT edition allows "All User" items and "unlimited" program groups.

I've seen online that there's newer help than this file....

Look a bit deeper (probably on that page), and you'll find a link to download the new help files (although it may exist in a patch also).

Why does the help file tell me to look for stuff, and not provide a direct link?

To make sure that the links aren't ever broken, only "set in stone" links are listed. Each program will for the most part have a set page, however information about those may change. To keep all of the links working at all times, we'd have to keep the site the same organization wise, and have links, redirects, etc so that you can find the info. Say to link directly the help file... if it changes, we'd have to redirect. If we were to link a page that had information, but changed just where that info was [but not the other information] we'd have to put a link on the page to where the information about the other topic went.

Or... We could link the main page, and say to click the link for "Delayed Startup" - where the info would be within a few clicks. Which saves you from having to re-download patches for help file links, and having to search pages for the link to new information.

My question doesn't fit in here....
